Here’s a blue recommendation if you haven’t come across it yet. Scaevola surdiva. I’ve grown the variety ‘Fashion Pink’ before but last year I tried the blue for the first time with good success. Good ground cover.

We’re having a very good spell of weather here, so able to get into the garden and make progress on maintenance of this corkscrew willow which has grown a bit too big for the garden. Will need pro help for the tallest branches. It will regenerate quickly.

A combination of formal, semi-formal and wild through the hedge at the back. It’s the variation that keeps my interest. About half of the sixty or so roses have been pruned, hope to finish the rest today.

Wishing all gardeners a productive day.

Shame that the fun tree decs need to be stored away for another year. That’s how they last the years I guess. Maybe we would last better if we got stored away for a while 😂

We bought this house for its location and designed this extension to enjoy the garden in all weathers. I thank the Romans for underfloor heating as I sit in my happy place and plan the gardening season ahead.

Winter wouldn’t be winter without a bit of the white stuff. The blanket rose Sunset looking remarkably resilient. This area, which was lawn, is being turned into a huge “hot” bed of bright colours for the coming season. Yes I know it takes some imagination!

I know I’ll get stick for this, but I’ve always been curious about those who enjoy eating fruit cake with cheese. Even with northern heritage it seems weird to me. So I tried it today and I can confess, it is weird 😬. Mind you I don’t like salt and sweet popcorn either.
