Two years ago to the day (not the date) that I hit my first international six. At Galle.

I'd retired from playing 6 months earlier due to ill health, recovered, and was making the most of my retirement by playing in Sri Lanka

The pandemic had steadily worn down England's Test players. The 2021-22 Ashes broke them.

Tours to Australia are never easy, but Covid restrictions made England's last time down under that much harder: bit.ly/47Mtnz7

I watched this about 3 weeks ago, and for some reason, it was in my head today when I woke up
This archival footage reveals some interesting aspects:

First, just how many musicians it took to create the sound of the 70s. (Hint: a LOT)

Next, how timeless the cinematography was. Hardly needs a 4k retouch.

But...!

Great investigation of the Nazis, racists and criminals mobilising the flag-on-lamp-posts movement. This is the kind of journalism that the national media could and should have conducted:

Today is the 10th anniversary of finding out our eldest had a mango-sized tumour in her chest. It's also the 10th anniversary of finding out what an Oncology department did.

Everything ended up good, but it was a scary time

Do yourself a favor and take a minute to watch this animated short about 9yo Ronald McNair visiting his home town’s segregated library. It was produced by Story Corps and narrated by McNair's older brother Carl.

Near the end, Carl talks about the impact that "Star Trek" had on his brother. 🧪 🔭

I was hoping to post a picture of two happy men, but on reflection, Bernie may be giving out "I've been taken hostage" vibes
