The statue of Ukrainian poet, writer and national figure Taras Shevchenko in the town of Borodyansk, Kyiv Oblast was hit by shrapnel early on in the full-scale invasion by Russia that started in 2022. The head is now facing down, but just as Ukraine, Taras hasn't given up!

It’s okay, everyone does it! As we are waiting for train number three - yes it’s really busy on the main rail corridor, but at least I have the fuckin’ patience to wait a few minutes – we can see more and more motorcyclists jump in front of the queue by going under the gate.

Some of what Russians left behind when they were kicked out of Borodyanka, Kyiv Oblast in March 2022 is now on display in a museum run by locals. Ask someone at the Borodyanka Palace of Culture to let you in and they'll show you around.

When I first entered Ukraine earlier this year, I was on the Kyiv Express. Next time I'm planning to take a bus across the border, probably from Moldova. That also means I can visit other parts of Ukraine then. 💙💛
