You think YOU'RE having a bad day? Some idiot out there just finished paying all the tariffs to get their Trump 2028 merchandise to put on the shelves of their Trump store they just renewed the lease for.

I just can't help but think about all of those HBCUs that withheld class yesterday due to threats of violence from people that thought that it was a good idea to blame all black people for a shooter that took place in Orem, Utah at a public event in the daylight.

I just saw something at the university at which I am employed that I rarely ever see anymore. A couple, holding hands, walking across campus.

Casual observation: Iowa is the best state for really good-looking nerdy people.

The built-in disdain a professor might feel watching the freshmen going to assembly hits a little different when his/her own kid is amongst em.

1. This week, the FBI released its comprehensive crime report for 2024, which revealed that both VIOLENT CRIME and PROPERTY CRIME reached their LOWEST LEVELS SINCE THE 1960s

This a massive story. But you might not have heard about it, even if you follow the news closely.

Here's why.
Why you might not know that 2024 was America's safest year since the 1960s
An overwhelming majority of Americans, 64 percent, believe that crime increased across the country in 2024, according to a Gallup survey conducted late last year.

How anti-bike propaganda uses psychological tricks to defend car supremacy.

TL;DR: Next time you read anti-bike propaganda, spot these tricks:
- False choices
- Fear-mongering
- Topic shifting
- Tradition worship
- Strategic omissions
Remember: Streets are for PEOPLE. Some just happen to be in cars

How come everyone's playlist of the Eagles and even their own anthology albums all start with "Take It Easy"?

Casual observation, that's all.

It probably isn't a good sign when I can barely tolerate the lowest heat settings on one of those foot-soaky doohickeys, huh?

Thread.
something important I learned today: structurally, bluesky isn't really "a website where people post things"

Instead, each *user* is effectively a website. Bluesky is an app for posting to your site and managing/following your web ring.

Which is cool and clever! but can also be *very dangerous*
I actually don't fully know the answer to this question but it seems like no, there isn't much barrier?

I love how someone on Reddit was so kind as to make a menu for leopards trying to eat faces in the post-election era. Whoever made this, u a real one.
