We report for the first time a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score of 0 (i.e., no plaque formation) in a male patient with type 1 diabetes who has followed a ketogenic diet for over 10 years, despite elevated LDL cholesterol and no lipid-lowering medication....(thread)

🧂Our controlled feeding pilot trial suggests potential sex differences in kidney responses to dietary salt. With a high salt diet, females may increase endothelin-1 excretion more. Endothelin-1 is a potent vasoconstrictor peptide and promotes salt excretion by the kidneys.

New research alert!

🌡️ Young and older adults maintained cardiac output in extreme heat. However, older adults relied more on systolic (i.e. pumping) function, yet still struggled to maintain systolic blood pressure.
