Absolutely shocking to see a Labour secretary of state stand at the despatch box and proudly announce slashing support for some of those who need it most - including removing the UC health top-up for young people, as if young disabled people don't exist?! #DisabilityBenefits

Instead of slashing welfare and disability benefits — forcing more disabled people and children into poverty — the government could introduce a 2% tax on assets over £10 million.

It would raise £24 billion — five times the savings from these cuts.

This is austerity 2.0

🚨 Today’s announcement is alarming.

It’s true, our social security system needs an urgent update.

But cutting disability benefits is not the way to fix it.

Disabled people are already three times more likely to face hunger. Huge cuts risk pushing more people to food banks.

A great humanist sentiment by author Terry Pratchett for our #WorldBookDay. He was our patron and is sorely missed.

Utterly shameful - a sickening betrayal of some of the poorest people. And counterproductive too - as if global security isn’t also dependent on efforts to tackle the climate crisis, global poverty, inequality, and humanitarian needs.

If you fight on the far right’s terrain, you will lose.

Parroting their anti-immigration rhetoric only legitimises them, & people will always choose the original over the copy.

Defend human rights, stand by our principles & fight for a socialist vision — that’s how we will win!

It's not just that prayers in parliament are exclusively Anglican, thereby failing to represent the beliefs of the country, or even parliament itself – it's how MPs reserve seats. This awards speaking privileges during debates, which in 2025, is absurd. humanists.uk/2025/02/11/m...
MPs rally to end parliamentary prayers

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*
Group of Labour MPs urge No 10 to be tougher on migration to fend off Reform

The Government plan is to temporarily renationalise Thames Water, for you to pay off its debts, and then to let someone else takeover so they can rob you, build up massive debts and do the same all over again.

NO water should be NATIONALISED.

RT if you agree.

If true, what Labour front bench is doing is unforgivable. The #CANBill is essential & has backing of huge number of experts, scientists, unions & enjoys cross-party support. If backbench Labour MPs ever consider rebelling against leadership on anything, let it be this - a liveable future for all 👇

The 'farmers' protest is a good time to remind people of the Just Stop Oil protestors who got 21 years, just for planning a protest.

Two tier justice indeed.
