Hello world
The web3 killer app never came. Or not yet anyway. And building an atproto app is like using a blockchain as a database, expect it's a humans-with-their-shoeboxes-of-stuff chain. You're sacrificing some performance to use this shoebox-chain as your database, what makes that good for business?

How? Link me.

I think for these things you also have to ask yourself what’s the best we can get without making the UX too janky? And this feels pretty close to the best we’ll get.

Could be wrong, would be nice to be wrong.

Lol. To be fair though the independence of a Swiss Association is nothing to scoff at.

It’s moving to Switzerland to enjoy the fresh air and cheese.

Based on a true Bluesky.

and squeakily

The name kinda sucks. I'd love it if they just rebranded it the Atmosphere Protocol. Then everyone would say it the same way and write it the same way.

either that or it's a fried egg

I think WhiteWind is no longer maintained.

Which begs the question why not use another client, one that does everything exactly as you wish? There are many out there and chronological view w notifications for all is likely the default on most.
November 2, 2025 at 12:34 PM
We could ask bsky about hiding, but as long as there’s no outright hiding going on (which I suspect there’s not) then another client can notify you or order replies however.
November 2, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Nothing in that Bluesky post about hiding replies, only reordering (prioritizing, down-ranking, etc.). As long as a client can see all replies and timestamps it can order them how it likes.

I'd be with you if this was about not surfacing certain replies at all, but not seeing that written anywhere.
November 2, 2025 at 11:43 AM
It would not be technically possible to enforce that on another client that wanted to present the replies chronologically. So a different client will fix it.
November 2, 2025 at 6:07 AM
You could just switch clients. I'm sure some clients will have what you want as default.

Vaguely remember someone on their team saying Blacksky handle and Blacksky infra are separate concerns, i.e. you can use the infra without the handle. I'll try and search the post.

for an even better time, try telling nostr people that bitcoin is crypto.

Vin Diesel was great in that.

The definition of decentralised is perhaps the most decentralised thing of all.
October 22, 2025 at 6:14 PM
The question is where will it be in 5 years.

Your first post stared with "Jesus" and ended with "This is a joke right?". Generally with such threads you get the tone you set.

This is the American tourist perplexed by Japanese toilet scenario.

It works fine for what it does, it's just that you're not used to it doing what it does.

nostr is the internet of json. atproto is the internet of cbor.
October 18, 2025 at 7:07 AM
Nostr is an interesting experiment vis a vis what would happen if there was no manager at all, anywhere. (Sure individual clients can moderate, but because of how nostr works that would be pretty pointless and so none bother to, or dare to.)
