If I live long enough to be in an old folks home for Highlanders I'll never understand the internet's fucking obsession, hell fucking fetish, for identifying and calling out things that only sin is being "overrated."

Why does "Too many people like it too much..." set so many people off so bad?

Yo, online businesses. Quick pro-tip. If I bought a pair of socks from you 5 years ago and that was the last business we did I shouldn't be getting 3 e-mails a day from you now.

Maybe I'm other thinking it but part of it is I used to be able to go or not go to a movie just based on whether I wanted to watch it and not have the future of an entire industry put on my shoulders about it.

Has there ever been a truly good paperback movie tie in cover? And not just "Okay the movie poster is cool I guess so it on the cover isn't THAT bad" but actually a movie tie in book edition that tried something unique and succeeded?

Ethical issues aside, do you think the current "look" of AI Generated Art is going to become an "aesthetic" or otherwise has an influence on overall art? 10, 20 years from now regardless of where AI is by that point will we see artist intentionally or unintentionally influenced by the look?

New media feels both too much and too little, like everything is both only an 8-10 episode "prestige" season that's over before it gets going and you have to wait 4 years for season 2 AND comes with all this other material you get assigned like homework you're expected to keep up with.

Ever thought about doing a vid on the "lost" Einstein Refrigerator? It is, if nothing else, a very unique take on the refrigeration cycle.

Finally tackling the project of transferring my huge CD bin into digital and Jesus Goddamn Christ I forgot how much music publishers back in the day liked being coy and not putting any information on the physical CD.

It's not a "safe space" or a "welcome space" if while you are in it you are expected to be constantly in either a mode of self depreciating or constantly reassuring everyone "No it's okay, I'm one of the 'good ones'"

Me: "Oh this new video game has a really good soundtrack with lots of perfect licensed music needle drops...."

*thinks about it*

".... which means it's gonna be delisted over expired music rights and impossible to find in 3 years."

Gremlins 2, Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, and Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022) are all the same genre. No I will not elaborate. Welcome to my TED Talk.

Dumb people love being "correct."

Being RIGHT is hard. It takes an understanding of context and nuance and exceptions and the broader working of the world.

Being "correct" just requires memorizing a bunch of arbitrary facts severed from their context and meaning.

There is an underwater megalophobia moment in @tensori.fi new beta level for Pools that I think people are going to be talking about for a while. Great stuff.

If you went back to 1995 let's say and told a large, diverse group of comic fans that following pairs of comic book characters would be played by the same person, which one would surprise them the most.

The Penguin / Bullseye
Bane / Venom
Batman / Daredevil
Green Lantern / Deadpool

Computers geeks in our 40s and later talk a lot of crap about younger computer users, but goddamn we really bought a lot of "RAM Doubling" software back in the day.

Seriously my friends do you think any of his followers care?

My favorite retro gaming fact.

The classic "SEGA" opening title scream with the voice yelling Sega... took up a full 1/8th of the space on the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge. That's why most games used the standard generic soundless Sega Logo

Somewhere in the Venn Diagram of Elite, Starflight, Starstruck Vagabond, Starfield, Mass Effect, a dozen others we've come so close to having all the parts of the perfect space exploration game a part of my brain needs to play.

As the simple, raw amount of media out there continues to further rapidly outpace what a single human could ever hope to consume the people who define themselves via what they haven't seen are going to become even more insufferable.

Someone explain to me why Liberals have an easier time figuring out what evil thing the Republicans have planned when they are speaking in dog whistle code then when the Republicans are just like "So this is what we are gonna do...."

It's like you understand code better than... like language.

Man some of ya'll are just performatively stupid.
