I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.
And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

My school district announced that they had $4,000 in unpaid lunch debts and were considering sending those parents to collections.
Or they could just, feed the kids for free with the super high property taxes that we pay?

There is nothing wrong with self publishing your book. There is however, something wrong with skipping an editor for your book. The number of basic mistakes I have found in this book I’m reading is driving me nuts.

Pardon the occasional brag but I’m so proud of her drumming. I know nothing but strings so watching someone just be naturally good at drumming blows me away.

The logic of elementary school reading programs: book on the left has 30-40k words, large text and illustrations. Book on the right has 30-40k words and no illustrations. Book on the left is worth more points in the reading program because it’s physically bigger/thicker.

My daughter is on a live elearning day and she showed a book she’s reading. Her teacher congratulated her on reading the ACTUAL REAL book and not just the graphic novel. My head almost exploded.

I sent my daughter to school with her favorite brand of peanut butter cup, in the wrapper, completely sealed. She opened it in the lunch room and caused a mini screeching riot as there was a living larvae worm thing wiggling on top of the chocolate. I’m gagging.

Someone saw me knitting at my daughter, swim meet and told me she wants to learn how to knit to save money. And when I stopped laughing I showed her how much my yarn cost.

Knitting friends: I’ve started using the knit companion app which I absolutely love, but I can’t find a way to zoom on it! What am I missing? My middle age eyes are struggling trying to read lace charts on my phone.

You know what I love about having an all female medical staff in an ER? When you’re a woman and you tell them your pain is a four on a scale of one to 10 they immediately say. “Oh my gosh that’s bad!!” Also, don’t step on a ground hornet nest if you can avoid it.

So who on Instagram has been contacted about creating an AI assistant? Because they literally called me and walked me through the process and it feels so creepy. They told me it will boost my profile in searches. I will not be publishing the ai and will live with never being an influencer.
