Blessed to cover Portage County HS sports for the Record-Courier and Midwest LAX for Lacrosse Magazine. NE Ohio fan. Mental health advocate. Kindness matters most.

I'm thrilled to bring my coverage of Portage County HS sports to a new platform. I'm in my 10th year covering our 12 schools and there's no job I would rather do!

Today, I am working largely on all-district football nominations in preparation for tomorrow's meeting.
Just pure grit from Tanner Bibee on a night when he never really had his command.

Super impressive!

As a thriller played out in Detroit, we had one in Tallmadge as well.

The Blue Devils overcame a heartbreaking second set, in which a 16-10 lead got away, to wage their own massive comeback.

Sophomore Eva Arnold was downright special with a whopping 23 kills, including eight in the fourth set!

How could you not like Slade Cecconi - not just for the way he pitched but that postgame interview.

Immediately heaping praise on Brayan Rocchio and Daniel Schneeman for the plays they made behind him.

Seems like a great guy - very easy to pull for!

GREAT series by the Guardians!

And an incredible effort by Gavin Williams in so many ways - including bailing out an exhausted bullpen.

Wasn't sure he was long for this game in the second - but he battled back and found his groove!

Great performance #ForTheLand!

The Cleveland Guardians needed a game like Tuesday's in the worst way.

The bounce back the Guardians so badly needed

My thoughts on the worst day of the season - in my book, anyway.

ourdiamondintherust.wordpress.com/2025/07/29/t...
The lowest of lows?
Was Monday the worst day of the Guardians season? Perhaps. Definitely for me.

As bad a regular-season loss as you'll ever see.
July 29, 2025 at 4:16 AM
As low as it gets.
Definitely in the running for the worst day of the season.

Blowing the lead against the 6-7-8 of the Rockies is just horrendous.

Your closer gets suspended for gambling and in his wake your next three relievers implode.

Cool.

I guess I can't just post about the good times - here are my thoughts on a super weird day for Guardians fans like me.

From Emmanuel Clase to Cynthia Erivo
As a six-game homestand starts in the weirdest way possible, here are my thoughts on Emmanuel Clase, the Guardians and enjoying summertime.

I don't know that Carlos Santana can be in the starting lineup right now. He definitely can't hit fourth.

I know we all want to get on the ump - but Clase was also consistently bad that entire outing.

Is what it is.

That's an INCREDIBLE tag by Schnee!

At least Tanner is getting rocked pretty efficiently. Pitch count is remarkably low!
July 21, 2025 at 11:49 PM
For a catcher, Bo Naylor has a surprisingly poor sense of what's a strike. Right after chasing one off the plate, he'll just freeze on a clear strike like that last one to end the third.
July 21, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Well, good job by Tanner and the Guardians battling through!
I really like Tanner - I think he has nasty offspeed stuff that will play - but he just isn't an ace right now. He can't finish batters in two-strike counts, isn't competitive enough with his waste pitches and keeps imploding midway through the game.

Hope the ASG is a reset for him...

Darn, I'm pretty sure Santana males that scoop at first...

I really don't understand why the Guardians continue to have Will Wilson on this roster. No disrespect to the guy. Their fault for running him out there. What exactly is their reasoning for his spot other than Arias and Brito being hurt? Can that really be it?

I'm suddenly questioning whether to keep the Ballpark Pass in August - and I LOVE baseball. But it's just hard to get excited and motivated to drive up to watch this lineup.
