Test for jury duty. You’re 51% sure he did it. He’s civilly liable. You’re as sure as you are in taking a mortgage, changing jobs. Not without doubt, but reasonably and responsibly sure. That’s criminally guilty. Either you’re not a fair juror, but you are absolutely a voter
NPR reported this morning that, based on their review of the #Epstein emails released yesterday, Trump’s name appeared more than 1,000 times in the document—

"I have met some very bad people, none as bad as #Trump. Not one decent cell in his body." - Jeffrey Epstein

A lot of folks still see crime as increasing. I think that there’s a hierarchy of issues as well as needs. Issues are constant but rise and fall as others affect more people.

Very helpful to follow @jeffasher.bsky.social and Real Time Crime Index to check data against perception.
Crime in U.S. Seen as Less Serious for Second Straight Year
Fewer Americans see national or local crime rising or view these as serious problems, but concerns about child safety and financial fraud remain.

What if we shutdown government shutdowns?

This article lays out how they came to be, an AG’s memo. Arguably, any AG since could opine differently and return things to how they were before 1980. Or Congress could act to end them. What’s the upside for either party taking permanent ownership of them?
That Time a Lawyer Invented the Government Shutdown
For nearly 200 years, shutdowns simply didn’t happen, even when Congress didn’t finish spending bills.

We’ve developed the undesirable national flaw of getting into wars and showdowns with only the hope that we can figure out what our goal is later on
💯. It wasn't about just the ACA subsides—it was about those and … everything else.

A little shade that these winners need to deliver, but savor that >90% of voters in NYC voted for some form of Democrat, even the poopy flavored popsicle kind.
Tapper: CNN projects that Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate, will be elected the next mayor of New York, New York

With Commissar Trump taking government ownership stakes in major industries, a nice socialist boy local mayor who wants some co-ops in food deserts seems pretty vanilla.
New York votes in a Democrat socialist as mayor. Meanwhile governor races are concluded as Abigail Spanberger wins in Virginia and Mikie Sherrill has edge in New Jersey

Ugly? In a checkout line behind a women with a little boy eying the candy display. She looks at him, takes one and presents her SNAP card. The cashier checks, in Georgia it’s okay. Trust me the kid was getting the candy, but ugly is what we did to the mom, and the cashier, and to ourselves
This is flat out false. SNAP cannot be used for that. It’s not permitted under federal law and no states have an exemption for it.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

Six months of polling with nearly half a million voters led Welcome PAC to a thorough accounting of what the organization already knew: The Democratic Party has veered too far left, effectively choosing to prioritize progressive orthodoxy over electoral success.

@gelliottmorris.com has the data. I quibble that if D’s don’t have the negative positions he notes they don’t reject them as party planks loudly enough to shed the accusations. Defunders vote, you know, don’t offend. I also wonder if $ubscribed media is reaching deeply into working class homes.
The GOP has been extremely effective at shaping perceptions of the Democrats, claiming they support policy positions they don't actually support

If your strategy, as a Dem, for winning in 2028 *STARTS* by buying their spin and lies, then you've already lost

10,000 steps or hours - we love a goal, but it’s a range, an ‘ish target. 270 million in U.S. are voting age citizens or 16-17 now vice ‘26. Hand grenades and horseshoes - close scores. Above 7 million out and publicly supporting on media/polls, earth shakes. #nokings
