Yes! It's about goddamn time.

And I say this as someone who went to publicly funded Catholic schools for K-12.

Catholic schools teach bigotry and intolerance. And their very existence is an affront to a secular society.
It’s time to end public funding for Catholic schools in Ontario
Separate schools in the province are a dusty relic of the past

My city tore down a homeless encampment downtown to then erect a little Christmas Village of tiny festive wood shacks. You know, the type of structure that could keep people warm at night.

It's so dark, and you can't make this shit up.

Signs my body is bouncing back from nearly two years of aggressive illness....my big naturals are once again causing clothing fit issues.

I don't think it's required to share openly that you get botox et al....but it'd be a lot cooler if you did*

*mostly, I think it's weird to collectively pretend this is what faces and aging actually look like

I saw a coyote while walking the dog today. We watched it from afar for a bit. It was neat.

The best thing I've done lately (ever?) is point out that my library hold had been marked as shipped for two weeks and was likely lost.

Well, the library took action posthaste, and it was found. Because of me, that book is now back in circulation. You're welcome, library users of Guelph

"We can compare the gut of a person with Inflammatory Bowel Disease to a dying coral reef or a fallow field. A battered ecosystem where the balance of organisms has gone awry." - @edyong209.bsky.social in I Contain Multitudes, giving the most poetic definition of my disease I've ever heard 🥹

Me, crying about Crohn's: "I wish I could have mild Crohn's instead of severe!"

My partner, reminding me to dream big: "Maybe try wishing for no Crohn's at all?"

I think we might be overly concerned with how to dispose of eclipse glasses. I have bad news, we make a lot of garbage even on days without an eclipse

According to my friend's kid, I'm "the one who makes the best pies and poops out her belly" and honestly, this is the only acceptable way to describe me from now on

...well, until my ostomy is reversed anyway.

Today is my psuedo Boxing Day cause I spent actual Christmas in the hospital, postponing all festivities until my discharge, which means what I'm actually missing out on is that wacky week where nothing is real.

What a rip-off.

Exactly one week from today, in this exact moment, I'll be groggy and waking up from surgery, down one colon and up one ostomy bag. Very wild to think about.

I refused to give up believing in Santa as a youth. My parents were full on, "ok, the jig is up" and 12 year old me was adamantly like, "I still believe in the SPIRIT of Santa Claus."
