Great new piece by my friend Maxwell Burkey re: how Trump has “unmoored” patriotism from democracy:

Donald Trump and the unmooring of patriotism and democracy
Among the reckonings necessary in the wake of Trump’s reelection is jettisoning the notion that patriotism and democracy are synergistic.

"One may well ask: "How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?" The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws...

Why Liberals Struggle to Cope With Epochal Change
The error of their mythology about 1989 matters because we face another such moment of historical rupture today.

Like 2/3 of The Federalist Papers are on “how the Constitution is awesome because it blocks guys like Trump”, and, well
It's true that Trump is outside of normal American politics, but that's because actors in the party system have historically recognized how dangerous a guy like Trump is and kept them out.
Gingrich: I think the only way you can begin to understand this is to take trump totally outside of normal American politics and recognize that he's a mythic figure. He’s like some of the people who come out of the viking sagas
