Agreed 100%. Also that assumption caused a relative glut of software engineering/coders and not enough electrical and computer engineers such that all the current favorite projects of tech bros have hardware and infrastructure limitations they aren't prepared for.
Another chaos theory I have for the internet is that much of it was built with the assumption that Moore’s Law would continue indefinitely, meaning a great deal of software isn’t written with efficiency in mind. I say this as I try and loads an MLB schedule and it just doesn’t bother to finish
