The Eurasian nuthatch can look elegant if it wants too, like here, but flashing its rear end to the camera is still one of its more preferred poses 😅 #birds 🪶

A charming Eurasian blackcap (svarthätta), an uncommon visitor for the season and location 😊 Photo from today #birds 🪶

Blyth's reed warbler 🙂 Not the most common sight here. I heard and then saw one today at the same spot I observed one last year on June 12. They're great at mimicking other birds, super fun to listen to! This little guy pulled off a buzzard imitation that was good enough to convince Merlin 😄 #birds

This is not the common yellow wagtail, this is the Citrine wagtail, an Asian species that seems to be spreading west. And I was lucky enough to get the second reported observation ever of it in my municipality 🤩

Yesterday evening gave me my best short-eared owl captures so far. Two of them were hunting in the area and did a couple of close fly bys. 🤩 In addition to that I was also lucky enough to score a very rare observation, will share that one later!

Ringed plovers are amongst my top species to observe and photograph, here's a capture from today 😊

The Temminck's stint is a very small wader, I saw some together with common ringed plovers today and the plovers looked tall in comparison 😊 Photo from today.

Some moose action from this evening, they really love the buds & the first spring leaves that are starting to form 😊

Wood sandpiper, and a behind the scenes shot. We've had quite a long period of colder weather, but now it's not long until spring leaf burst!

From the archives: last year I had a lovely encounter with two curious fox cubs a morning when I was going out to photograph some birds. 🦊 One of them was curious enough to give me this shot 😊

Common merganser couple photographed this morning. 🪶 After the heatwave that brought a large group of new migratory birds it has been a bit colder for a while, but spring is still progressing, only at a more modest pace 🌱

Met this stylish common chiffchaff today 🙂 Also saw my first osprey and rough-legged buzzard of the season. A good day!

Mrs and Mr Teal. We've had mostly goldeneye's and mallard's, but now the Eurasian teal and tufted ducks are back. I've also seen a few northern pintails.

Also including an environment shot, since I've had intentions to show more than what can be seen in the standard closeups 🙂

Where are all the other wildlife photographers from the Nordic countries on BlueSky? I love to see all the American birds but I wouldn't mind following a few more locals and neighbours too! 😄

Early morning shot. Accidentally spooked some ducks as I passed by a wetland area. This week a lot of migratory species have returned. Still quite some that are still to come though 😊
