Cricket, politics and Simpsons references.
Say it quietly, but Smith hasn't been the same player since he became a father during the NZ tour. That was when his form started to turn in a big way. I can absolutely see how it's happened. Is he getting the support he needs? #ashes

On this evidence seems pretty clear why England have been reluctant to pick Potts the last few years. #ashes

Bethell hitting a lot of fielders here. It's the same when he plays white ball. It's currently the biggest issue in his game for me- doesn't turn the strike over enough. #ashes

This should be the last game Rob Hatch ever commentates on. He must be the least informed and most casual commentator ever employed. Clearly knows absolutely fuck all about the game. #ashes

Absolutely ridiculous. Well played son. Could win 10 in a row if he wants. #thedarts

This darts is incredible but the utter choppers booing Van Veen should be kicked out.

Reminder that this idea of it being a stag do in Noosa has been entirely confected by Shemilt at the BBC to the extent that Darren Lehmann has called it complete nonsense. So what if Ben Duckett got pissed and some sad acts filmed him? #ashes

Seeing lots of chat about Archer in below the line comments. A) about the nonsense pillow story in the aus press and B) about his gold chain. This is quite obviously racially charged and should be called out. Eng fans are fucking mouth breathers sometimes. #ashes

Also looks increasingly like the decision to drop Lyon and play Neser was the right one. Spin not really playing a role so far and the extra batting far more useful. I guess England would likely have played Overton here had he been on the tour. #ashes

Contributions all the way down the card from Australia. Backed up by brilliant fielding, even with only one good bowler, you aren't going to lose many games. #ashes

Pretty grim this. We've bowled far, far worse than we've batted. This is not a 260/3 pitch. #ashes

This hatchet job is an absolute disgrace. No one means to drop them. No wonder the team block out outside noise. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...

This is unlike George in it's glibness. Yeah, just play as well as the world's best. Easy ffs
You'd think they looked at Joe Root and conclude 'Hmm, that works. I'll copy him.' Wouldn't you?

Some very simple people suggesting our whole team should simply bat like the best player that's ever lived. If only it was that easy. #ashes

England are getting stuck here. We have to keep looking to score or we will be all out 240. #ashes

It's going to boil traditionalist piss in a very enjoyable way when Harry Brook is England Test captain. #ashes

Probably controversial on Bluesky, but this clearly needs doing, for economic and social reasons just as much as politics. There are clearly issues that need looking into.
Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Health secretary has asked experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become ‘over-pathologised’ The health secretary, Wes Streeting, has ordered a clinical review of the diagnosis of mental health conditions, according to reports. Streeting is understood to be concerned about a sharp rise in the number of people making sickness benefits claims because of diagnoses for mental illness, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Times reported. He has asked leading experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become “over-pathologised”, the newspaper said, as he seeks to grapple with the 4.4 million working-age people now claiming sickness or incapacity benefit. The figure has risen by 1.2 million since 2019, while the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because of a mental health condition is said to have grown rapidly in the same period. Streeting told the Times he knew from “personal experience how devastating it can be for people who face poor mental health, have ADHD or autism and can’t get a diagnosis or the right support”. He added: “I also know, from speaking to clinicians, how the diagnosis of these conditions is sharply rising. “We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens to get an evidence-based understanding of what we know, what we don’t know, and what these patterns tell us about our mental health system, autism and ADHD services. “That’s the only way we can ensure everyone gets timely access to accurate diagnosis and effective support.” The review, which is expected to be launched on Thursday, is set to be led by Prof Peter Fonagy, a clinical psychologist at University College London specialising in child mental health, with Sir Simon Wessely, a former president of the Royal College of Psychiatry, acting as vice-chair. The way commentators talk about Brook infuriates me every time.
He is one of the best batters in the world. And this is how he plays.
