Since 1636, the National Guard has remained Always Ready, Always There. Today, we celebrate 387 years of unwavering commitment to our nation and the men and women whose dedicated service make it possible.

This will be my last Veterans Day in uniform. Here’s how it started, at Fort Knox, KY, a Brit-by-birth American-by-choice who wanted to give something back after 9/11 and planned to stay in for one enlistment but found instead he’d made one of his better life choices and remained for the duration.
