While they can be similar, there are distinct differences between a Bug Out Bag (BOB) and a Get Home Bag (GHB).

My review of the Redhawk from Tactile Knife Co. went live today. It’s an outstanding option for a pocket carry fixed blade.

There’s an online rumor that the Earth is going to lose gravity for seven seconds on August 12, 2026. Allegedly NASA has been working on Project Anchor to figure out how to handle it.

People believing and sharing bullshit like this is why we can’t have nice things.

There are three components to the evacuation equation.

Destination + Route Planning + Kit = Success.

If you’re missing one of those elements, you’re going to struggle.

Edit an anthology they said. It’ll be fun they said.

My kidney stone was a more enjoyable experience than this project. Zero stars, do not recommend.

[To be clear, this has zero to do with contributors, who have all been awesome. It’s behind-the-scenes stuff that’s been an absolute nightmare.]

There is a distinct subset of the online #prepper community that uses their alleged interest in disaster planning to excuse all manner of illegal behavior, from copyright theft to shoplifting, even extending to crimes causing injuries and such.

We refer to these people as “pieces of shit.”

Food for thought for the writers. The less work you make for the editor, the more work the editor is likely to give you.

This may be the most "Monday" of Mondays of the entire year, but I'm still looking forward to hitting the ground running today. Hoping to scratch several things from my work To Do list now that schedules are more or less back to normal.

I was reminded today of the time a “sovereign citizen” came into my office to hire me to serve papers for a lawsuit he’d just filed. When I asked him how he was able to use a court system that he had declared himself exempt from, I think his brain short-circuited.

A few reasons why Backwoods Survival Guide is awesome:

1) It's nearly 30% thicker than competing titles on the shelf.

The “use your shit” bros in the knife world crack me up. I have lots of daggers. What precisely do you feel I should be using them to do? I’ll never understand why so many guys get worked up about how others spend money.

Words are tools and should be treated as such. If your only tool is a hammer, you’ll be able to get some work done but you’ll find yourself struggling an awful lot. Take time to expand the toolbox and learn how to use precision equipment. You’ll get more work done with less effort in the long run.
