It's New Year's Day, and I have nothing to do, so I've decided to grade every transfer we've done since the SDs took over using the classic American grading scale (A=4.0, B=3.0, etc).

I'm only grading incomings and I'm only grading players who have already joined. Buckle in.

Think this is very relevant for Chelsea to think about as they’ve become pressier throughout the season. You either need to make subs to maintain the pressure, or ramp up and down your pressure over the game.

Look at this @mclachbot.com graphic from our game against Brentford. We had 11 long build up possessions, which is 85+ percentile of all premier league games in the last 3 years and 12 fast break possessions which is 95+ percentile. This is very typical of how we played this season.

Why did we go into the season with 3 real midfielders?

Andrey Santos hopefully becoming a key part of the squad next season will make life easier for Caicedo minutes wise
I think the biggest takeaway here is @kierdoyle.bsky.social's point from his podcast on quality over freshness and how freshness wins out almost every time. Here's the match flow. 70th minute is where they started to bring on fresh subs and we didn't

Kier does a great job again breaking down what went right and what went wrong against Spurs.

Trigger warning: contains Anthony Taylor apologia

SJR looks a bigger dickhead by the day
the article is clearly unusually well-sourced within the club for the genre

Spurs losing Vicario is huge considering the replacement is a washed up Forster. They're probably our biggest top 4 rival this season too

Room temperature take - what he did for Enzo's goal is even better
Nicolas Jackson’s skill for this finish is simply outstanding.

At this point, anyone still claiming that we're not a better team that we were last season should probably just not be taken seriously

Wage policy sucks

Caps us from signings experienced players who are actually good
It's been a major point of complaint that we are focusing on younger, less established players rather than bringing in experience to the team, but the signings I've disliked the most have all been the ones that broke that policy - Felix, KDH, Disasi, Sanchez to name a few
