Absolutely this. Those who are not sadistic and racist can’t stomach the job and get out pretty quickly. Their turnover statistics are stunning (like, average of 1 year), those who choose to stay are a special breed, and not in a good way.

When they glued together a new agency from parts of other agencies and called it Homeland Security when we had never previously used the word "Homeland," both the process and the name made me and the feds I worked with say "This won't end well."

Has anybody calculated the people who have died in ICE detention, the people who died on the small boats, the people who died Jan6, and the people who have died in Venezuela or on the ships near there? The total will be gobsmacking even without Covid deaths. Trump is responsible for them all.
