Americans cite corruption as the #1 threat to our future. Trump is running the most transparently corrupt White House in history. Democrats should be running hard on an anti-corruption platform—and I'm psyched to see my old friend @cammiecroft.bsky.social leading that charge.
Donald Trump’s Administration is fueled by unabashed corruption, while representatives in both parties in Congress continue to enrich themselves through stock trading.

This needs to stop. Period.

Sometimes tech critics lose sight of this, treating technology itself as inherently bad. That’s when society starts surrendering its agency instead of exercising it

Let’s be blunt. China and Russia are already racing to dominate AI while we still debate if it’s even worth it. Hesitation is no option, we need to lead smart, and strong. My latest (in reply)

People are going to be shocked in a few years that the U.S. economy is shrinking after we cut core government services to pay for tax cuts for the rich, imposed massive tariffs and scared off both legal & undocumented immigrants.

All this and hitting a demographic cliff due to declining birth rates

It’s been narratives all the way down throughout human experience - Lippmann described this as “pseudo-environments” a century ago: men live in the same world but think and feel in different ones, he argued, and it was the govt and/or media’s job to bridge these divergent narratives.
What many of us warned, & what is unavoidably clear now, is that there is no privileged sphere of "real life" that is sheltered, separate from the information environment. It's narratives all the way down -- even to the point that they shape *how people experience their own material circumstances*.

reporting on this has really got to get better about communicating the magnitude of the breach here. if you read the nyt article with minimal context, you would have no sense that this was watergate-level impeachable misconduct
President Trump has personally ordered the Justice Department to open an investigation of Democrats' primary ways for raising donations.

It is the third time he has personally ordered an open-ended criminal investigation, each against a perceived political foe.

It doesn’t make any sense for Trump and Musk to get rid of Direct File—unless they want to do a big favor for giant tax prep companies, by squeezing more Americans into paying up for those products.
The IRS free tax-filing program Direct File saved users $160 each. Now it may come to an end.
Amid reports the IRS may end its free Direct File program, more than 170 lawmakers are demanding it remains open.

I don't really care what the "political consequences" are of fighting for the proposition that *everyone* is entitled to due process before they are removed from the United States and sent to a Salvadoran prison.

It's not really a principle if you only adhere to it when it's politically expedient.

This argument would not be any different if the victim were a US citizen: sorry we "accidentally" disappeared a citizen, but he's a foreign policy matter now.

That is exactly the goal. They think they found an infinite gulag glitch that works on anyone, even citizens.
Despite admitting to having illegally sent a guy to El Salvador by mistake, and even though the U.S. is paying El Salvador to indefinitely imprison him, the DOJ is arguing that, well, nothing to do, it's not in our hands anymore. The general tone of their response is "welp, sucks to be him."
