I am only who I have always been. I am not the crushed object “they” have tried to shape me into.
Erik Satie’s Gnossienne No 5 always makes me think of Lou Reed’s Perfect Day.

If you say “I’m fine with immigration as long as it’s legal” or “I came the right way” but you’re not sounding the alarm over this, you’re lying.

A company says an employee was detained by federal agents during an immigration court hearing, despite being here legally with a valid work permit.

Collect art. It’ll all work together. Some are my sketches, photos. My nieces’ work. Finds from web, a photog from here. A pic my dad took, a pastel my sis did in 72. A postcard, prints, needlepoints, etc. I have more in the hall and stairwell. At some point choices, rotations will have to be made.

I had a cup of coffee…I put it down somewhere. Clearly the caffeine is defective if it renders me so absent minded I misplace the cup between sips and texting someone.

The morning was going so well. Saw a bunny eating on the lawn while listening to the dawn choir.

Hope its not foreshadowing.

The citizens of America have already paid for our public lands. So selling them is a violation of the public trust. They are not the property of illegal Congress people and their criminal leader to sell.

Fireplace is lit, a pie based on a Manhattan waits (my invention)*, most likely paired with a dark chocolate hot hot chocolate.

My perfect storm life can suck it.

Not sure if it was my therapist or me that called it that but I am the one who asked, “didn’t they all die that movie?!”

Nina Simone’s Lilac Wine is so sweetly wild, like a magic spell that you might find locking eyes of a coyote walking calmly purposefully through your neighborhood at dawn, or when you feel the noisy quiet in the woods and suddenly want to run deeper, home. Or when you fall in love and you’re free.

My niece and I did her usual Valentines day ritual: pasta, red wine, and watching American Psycho.

She said, “Except for all the killing, this would be a real feel good movie.”

Me: “aside from the emotional emptiness and people not really knowing who anyone is…sure.”

I’m American. I grew up in a non-American household but still am not sure if I make a proper cup of tea. I use Yorkshire tea, water boiled to 212°, steeped 4 minutes.

Yes, its heavily sugared. I live in America. Not because everything needs tons of sugar, per US standards (joke).

For the shock.

Needed some guidance for new moon intention. Had a rough start to this phase so I turned to the tarot. Pulled the Queen of Swords.

You should see me in a crown…

The moon was new yesterday
And I spent the day wondering about the end
Trapped in an ER, waiting for results, and more tests.
Why we are not beautifully wonderfully made but made.
I was going to ask,
“How will you live.”

(The moon answered by giving me poetry on my feed. Every post.)

Interesting read. I believe it. We have so many stories, shows, movies based on these themes. Why wouldn’t people believe them? It sounds like justice and destiny. “I’m going to serve up some justice!”, “I was born to do this!” Its in so many movies and series. They move the plot. But its a plot.
I write to influence the zeitgeist.

I write to fight anomie.

I write to be the Woke Mind Virus that fascists fear.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

Buckle up. Its going to get ugly and bloody.
For those who are shocked at the swiftness of how things are changing. Stop being shocked. Read history. Then read their outline. It is a mirror image.

Be prepared, not surprised.

The second attempt at focaccia was better but not exactly focaccia. It became a savory pesto laden fobread pudding. Or fauxbread? pudding? My niece’s idea too.

It took this tiny flame over half an hour to die. It hung on, came back, over and over. We know the power of a tiny flame.

I listened to what the flame said. We don’t have to watch our voices die. We have as much strength and resilience as that flame.

The tarot cards have been spot on lately.

This morning they were all you’ve got this, world is your oyster, get out of your own way its all good, things are great.

Outcome: you’re exhausted, you need a break, seriously, take some time.

The focaccia is more of a focracker. Can’t even call it a foflatbread. Still it’ll probably be delicious and I am giddy that I am baking again.

I have three pestos to dip my focracker in. Made sun dried tomato pesto. Have basil and fennel frond pesto
