I came upon a Male Northern Harrier resting and preening in a quiet moment yesterday morning along the Sonoma Coast. I was able to spend about 45 minutes watching it sitting in the early morning light on my way to Jenner Hawkwatch.

Digging through the archives a bit. I love migration season when we get to see waterfowl who aren’t always around. We get common mergansers most of the time and sometimes a breeding pair sticks around. This was from early spring, 2023.

We like the northern cardinal here very much. For me, winter is a great time to get photo captures as they are puffed-up to protect from the cold. This is a female taking a quick perch. Note the frost.
