Are you curious about who FCC Chair Brendan Carr is, after his most recent abuse of power resulting in ABC's suspension of Jimmy Kimmel?

Last fall I wrote for @thehill.com about the threat Carr posed to free speech. Unfortunately he's met all of my expectations.

We found more than 170 incidents since the start of Trump’s second term. Americans have been kicked, dragged and held for days without access to lawyers.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr's "message to media executives is clear: You can have all the mergers you want, as long as you kiss Trump’s ring first. But if you don’t bow down, look out."

As millions of Americans prepare to take the streets to peaceably assemble at #NoKings protests tomorrow, I take on the GOP’s mounting threats to this core constitutional right.
Free Press Co-CEO @jgo4justice.bsky.social has a powerful piece on how GOP leaders are criminalizing protests and portraying progressive activists as terrorists.

Ah, the whole “kids will be kids” and it sucks when “scumbags” expose their bigotry line.

A couple thoughts:

1. Girls and kids of color - together a majority of kids in the US - aren’t spewing this shit. It harms them.

2. The Young Republicans are 18-40. Adults.

The Speaker of the House says #NoKings protesters “hate America.”

I’m gonna have to call BS. I’d bet that very few people love protesting. The weather, the crowds. I actually don’t like it and I protest often.

Because I love my country, and I know that non-violent protest makes it better.

Shame on Apple and Tim Cook. We should be free to criticize ICE which is wreaking havoc on our communities and causing immense harm that will last people their entire lifetimes. This is a gross misuse of the hate speech rules.

Last week Trump lackey Brendan Carr, went into full damage control before a panel of disbelieving journalists.

But no amount of dodging and dishonesty could save Carr from the truth, or salvage his reputation as Trump's go-to censor at the FCC.
