Is there a special category on the emotional scale for the sense of dread and regret you feel sitting down at a rowing machine for the first time since Christmas's self-delusional 'one more won't make a difference' mantra?
What else should there be a special category for?

Wow - Barron Trump alongside his Dad shows how different two family members can be: not in terms of height, but lack of orange...

Two college assignments to write, you say? Ok, but obviously I need to finish decorating a gingerbread house first. That's *much* more important.

Our dog was so excited to welcome me home after two weeks travelling that while out for a walk, he didn't just roll in fox poo, he took it up a level and found something that was rotting with maggots and flies. That's a real welcome home...

As a Brit, the US election coverage is bonkers. Channels like CNN and ABC already begin reporting numbers as the individual counties declare, meaning that you can be seeing (in a few cases) leads being shown for a particular candidate based on just a few thousand votes. Mad.

Hilarious. Well played Mr Jennings, well played.

Me, five years ago (before Monty our Cavapoo) on seeing *any* dog: "Ooo, that looks scary - wide berth..."

Me, nowadays on seeing a pony-sized Rottweiler/German Shepherd cross: "Oh look at you gorgeous, c'mon, let's have a cuddle!"

What has happened to me?!

What are the gigs that you remember fondly, not specifically to do with the music?
I'll start: I saw The Proclaimers in 1989 in Perth, but the Australian one. The crowd loved them, despite not understanding a single word, *even though it was in their own language* Hilarious.

Argh. Just found out that They Might Be Giants - a band I loved so much in the 1980s that I followed them around the country on their tour - are coming to Cambridge, the exact week I'm in the US. Buttocks.

My 15yo son has got me back into basketball for the first time since Alton Byrd came to Channel 4 in the 1980s. Am in Chicago soon and wondering: is it worth going to a Bulls game if you're up near the ceiling?

Ok, by a strange quirk of business fate, I'll be in the US for both Halloween, and the election. Two questions: 1) which should terrify me more? 2) how do I avoid talking politics until I'm home again?
