After 24 hours on his feet, Cory Booker is defending the scientific research establishment of this country - calling out an experience like the one that drives me and SO MANY of my fellow scientists to do the work we do - that maybe we can do for others what we couldn't for our own loved ones.

🚨 ACTION NEEDED 🚨
We really need each of you call your House Rep and urge them to stand up for the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

IMPORTANT— On Wednesday, House Republicans on the Natural Resources Committee are calling a sub committee meeting to “evaluate the ESA”.

It's peak manatee season in Florida and the Crystal River Refuge is now down to 6 workers since 2 were unjustly fired. Federal workers are needed here to enforce seven manatee sanctuaries, lead educational lessons, rescue injured manatees, and coordinate volunteers.

These park rangers oversaw Florida’s only manatee refuge. Then they were fired.
The Trump administration’s sweeping cuts to the federal workforce are impacting the only national refuge created specifically for threatened manatees.

A Forest Service biologist working to keep Tongass salmon streams protected was unjustly fired. She was born & raised in southeast Alaska and hired through a program that preferentially selects local residents - which is exactly what helps federal conservation work be effective and efficient.

Did you know the most powerful force for climate action is LOVE—for our children, their future, and the world they’ll inherit?

That's right! Research shows this message moves hearts 12x more than jobs and 2x more than extreme weather.

“This is one of the most important wildlife connectivity projects in the country. Critically endangered red wolves will disappear if we do nothing.” —@bethpratt.bsky.social

Thanks to the AP for this important #roadecology story, and for including me as well.

A North Carolina wildlife crossing will save people. Can it save the last wild red wolves too?
Red wolves once ranged far and wide across the U.S., helping them earn the nickname “America's wolf.” But there are now thought to be fewer than 20 left in the wild.

New research assesses in detail the contributions of wildlife to people.

Humanity relies on an array of ecosystem services for well-being and survival, but the provision of these services rely not just on vegetation but also the wild animals that inhabit the ecosystems.
