You’re not just writing a story.
You’re making magic,
one word at a time. ✨

There are 1835 bookshops on the various lists on the Independent Bookshop website and my goal this week is to add as many from my bookmarks as I can, hoping to get it to 2025 😉
For those that like to shop from in Independent Bookshop, here's an ever growing directory.

There are 29 individual directory pages, thousands of bookshops listed, and five bookshop interviews

Dear first draft,
You're messy
Imperfect
Full of plot holes
And I love you anyway
Because you prove
I had the courage to begin.

Basically all dystopian sci-fi authors really, really want to be wrong. #Booksky

Write new worlds. Write beautiful places. Write angry people. Write imaginary beasts, futile quests, broken hearts, lifelong injustices, mysteries, love affairs, lost children, newfound purpose. Write anything that allows you to escape or heal or vent or rage or explore or reconcile. Write 🖤

This. Is. Amazing. Finally, an ebook alternative for Amazon, but for independent bookstores. This is amazing for readers who want to be more intentional about where you're spending your money. 📖 #BookSky
Bookshop.org launches new e-book platform that exclusively supports local bookstores
Indie bookstores miss out on millions of e-book sales to big companies like Amazon. Bookshop.org's new platform could help them turn a new page.

Being serious, one thing I have just remembered - Kobo is a CANADIAN ebook company. I might do my ereading with them instead of Amazon.

Half of writing is actually writing.
The other half is convincing yourself
what you're writing isn't completely terrible.
(It's not, by the way.)

Hey, #booksky! Say hi to Emily. Her beautiful M/M historical romance, the 11th Code, had me copyediting through my tears—and she's currently writing her first fantasy novel. So excited to see her on here!

Ok #booksky, let’s talk.

👎🏼Goodreads, owned by Amazon, fuels its monopoly on books.

👍🏼StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform, offers an ethical, ad-free alternative with mood-based recommendations, user control over data, and a focus on inclusivity. Support diversity over corporate power!

Of course! Bear with me here, as this will be a bit of a thread. (1) Are there any familiar phrases or cliches? E.g., describing characters by eye and hair colour, or opening scenes with a character waking up. In other words, what differentiates your story and prose from other authors' work?
I’ve been self-editing my first three drafts of my WIP “Can’t You Hear It?” All of which have been pretty developmental focused with some minor line fixes. Anyone have any tips on doing a thorough line edit? #writingcommunity #booksky #horrorwriting #author #bookediting
