Every once in a while I think about chairs. This tiny painting from 2023 is one of those times! Right now my practice is mostly home stuff. Looking forward to that shifting soon 🪑🖼

Reorganizing my works on paper storage! Here's one from Spring 2020! Was doing a lot of work around dreams and loneliness during the pandemic. It was the first time I had used people in my work in a decade!

Last few days.... thinking about traditional portraiture with pets and hobbies, quilts and bigger embroideries.

Drawing 3. I like looking back at photos I've taken of art and learning from them by re-drawing. Especially if I can't see what I was seeing in the moment like the blurry photo I took of a Rembrandt at the Hammer last month. I'd be too embarrassed to post it but I must've seen something ....

I am clearing out another social account (slowly) and a couple of things struck me that I miss. One of which is my "30 days of __" series. So here's drawing number 2. I think it will just be 30 days of drawings but we'll see how it goes with no set theme. #drawing #30daysofdrawing #artistsonbluesky

There's nothing like going thru your old online presence ... in 2014, I started painting these still lives. I figured them out on the page with each move in response to the previous. They felt like a very clear growth from the non representational work I had been exploring while at Pratt.

2015 is the year I started doing these painting plates. I've definitely done more than one flamingo over the years. I was very obsessed with copper splots for a second. I could really see those making a come back for me!

Wrote a howling email to Kathy Hochul which reminded me of the old kathyack tumblr (Cathy comics plus Kathy Acker text) which was so my cup of tea. ALL SINGING MUST NOW BE HOWLING.

Hi! I realized I've never introduced myself here. Most of my work is an exploration of the performance of gender using the feminine and kitsch language of decorative arts. From the Met to the thrift. Here, I am working on large (for me) paintings in my studio in BK in 2019 before I relocated to CA.

I'm calling this done! Tried out 4 different stitches, hours of time. Learned it's not bad to chain stitch while watching a movie, but everything else needs more attention. I'm excited to have another craft skill in my studio. And a really good excuse to go thrift a couple of shirts!

#embroidery This is 3 different stitches and many hours. I've lost track. Starting to really wish I had done this on a shirt or something wearable and not a canvas scrap!
