Reminds me of Mikhail Yuriev explaining Russian isolationism: a.) It isn't expansionism, it's an act of self-recolonization and b.) that builds up our internal structures, so we can isolate ourselves, but we might have to expanding more, to continue our non-expansionist isolation.

Still, sometimes I test the waters and toss out the anti-American half of Russian talking points. To my astonishment, people who chant "USA! USA! USA!" to drown out criticism, will suddenly scream, "Maybe this country needs to be destroyed!"
