Woohoo congrats 🥳
Over forty years, research spanning the Canadian Arctic, Alaska, and Scandinavia has shown significant alterations in Arctic vegetation as a consequence of climate variations. Around 60% of the locations examined in the study have witnessed a shift in plant species composition.
Plant communities in the Arctic are changing along with the climate, study finds | CBC News
A recent study has found that climate change is altering Arctic plant composition, with some species declining in response to warmer temperatures, while others flourish. Researchers studied over 2,000...

Dear friends, do not give up your democratic right to protest just because it takes 10 years to get it back. I am proud of my people, especially now, when democracy is being suppressed in the most unexpected countries around the world.

Earlier today the LA Times had AI-generated counterpoints to a column from @gustavoarellano.bsky.social. His piece argued that Anaheim, the city he grew up in, should not forget its KKK past.

The AI "well, actually"-ed the KKK. It has since been taken off the piece.

Many discussions in the morning on our current and future actions and awesome talks (Luc Abbadie, Louise Vilgrain & @jeremborderieux.bsky.social) planned in the afternoon!
Don't miss them!
📢| Our latest preprint (and my last PhD chapter) is now peer-reviewed !! We studied how variations in understory temperature change community composition and diversity. Aspect and topographic position promoted cold-adapted species diversity ! 🌿⛰️

You can already read it with the link below

@jeremborderieux.bsky.social and colleagues evidenced that topographic position and aspect outweigh forest canopy filtering to determine understory temperatures and plant assemblages in Vosges mountain.
Cool topoclimates promote cold-adapted plant diversity in temperate mountain forests.

In the midst of what's happening elsewhere on internet, I hope BlueSky is a better alternative to read and share ecology news 🌱
I'm Jeremy, a PostDoc at Team Shrub, UBC, Vancouver, studying tundra community resilience and spatial patterning. Lots of R, community ecology, GIS are incoming 🌿🧑‍💻

Thanks Romain for writing up the recommendation and leading the review process! We were really happy with the process and PCI ecology as a whole
