For a union at a crossroads, we need to be calling for increased scrutiny - not less.

My first article in the Sunday Independent today! Connolly will represent the people of Ireland - not the party of Simon Harris.

Here’s Jenny Maguire, the first trans woman elected to be President of the Student’s Union at Trinity College, Dublin, recommending voting for Catherine Connolly, the inclusive president we need! Jen is sound! #Aras25

The 1998 OG Dyke March Dublin banner during the speeches. @moobstreperous.bsky.social holds one end, @jennymaguire.bsky.social holds the other. Jenny is a trans student leader, prominent in Palestinian solidarity protests in Trinity College. More in alt text.

“Our bodies, lives and who we love are being politicised. It feels as if the organisers of the larger Pride marches are the last ones to see this.”

I’ll be on the tonight show in about an hour to discuss Trump’s pause on student visas.

We must resist all attacks on academic freedom.

We need to be providing a real alternative - not a barrage of messaging and false competition.

In today’s Indo, I propose the need for a true coalesced opposition.

🇵🇸 WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT 🇵🇸

On June 4th at 9am, the board of trinity college will be voting on recommendations of the Taskforce set up after the encampment. We need as many of you as we can there. Please come out and support.

I interrupted Simon Harris’ address to the Defending Freedoms conference in Dublin Castle.

The minister raised the work done by Ireland for LGBT people, then I asked “what about the queer people in Gaza we facilitate the murder through Shannon Airport”

Chatted about the failed model of trans healthcare in Ireland on Ireland AM this morning 🏳️‍⚧️

As @conorocarroll.bsky.social mentioned, there is no clinical justification for how we treat trans people seeking treatment.

We need a model that follows international best practice.

Spent my day discussing protest rights, Palestine, Serbia and the Occupied Territories Bill with MEP’s, activists and the UN special rapporteur on freedom of peaceful assembly!

Thank you for the support on the article! We must challenge oppressive rhetoric at every turn.

We must build community not just in an active organising sense, but in our hope, courage and kindness everyday.
If my rights as a trans woman are able to be removed in an instant, yours can too
