I’m feeling hopeful and inspired at Pamela Padilla’s #worm25 talk.

We have work to do. We should be kind while doing it.

I’m so exited for #worm25! It’s already off to a great start with the teaching workshop.

If you’re interested in how worms respond to environmental stress from microplastics + environmental chemicals, come by my group’s poster, 858A on Sunday night!

Research Saves Lives

At Hopkins, we just went live with an expansive website showing the extraordinary value of research, the impact of cuts to research, what's at stake, resources for our research community, etc.

Microplastic-mediated delivery of di-butyl phthalate alters C. elegans lifespan and reproductive fidelity
Microplastics harbor chemical additives and absorb pollutants from the environment. Microplastics pose a human health threat and have been found in nearly all human tissues. The toxicological pathways...

“a key feature of this community became abundantly clear: Worm people tend to help one other.”

This statement is true and why I love the worm community. Despite the chaos, I will keep training young scientists, in the ways of this incredible community.

Last week St. Mary's University hosted the 2025 Research Showcase.

Students from my group shared their projects on microplastic toxicity with posters and oral presentations. They have accomplished so much and it was great to see them shine.

THIS is what scientists look like!
