I finally found some brown beech mushrooms after striking out at multiple grocery stores and asian markets, which means tonight I cooked a new soup recipe I’ve had open in a tab for weeks:

Last year Amalia Child and I attended @datadaytexas.bsky.social together, and this year we are headed back... as co-speakers!

Join us this weekend (along with a decent chunk of the data community) in Austin for the final edition of #DDTX.

Tonight we are drinking some Siberian rose tea with local barrel aged honey. It is delish!

I have now made this soup recipe 3 times in the past few weeks, with my brand new Dutch oven (Christmas gift). This recipe is so good! (And I’ve gotten better at making it each time)
Note: I omit the chili because I am me, I have negative spice tolerance.

Now is an interesting time to be in the middle of a Terra Ignota re-read…

@adapalmer.bsky.social how closely are we progressing along the timeline (which I think I remember reading exists in a google calendar somewhere)?

Anthropomorphizing language can be cute when applied to your favorite car, but it helps to muddy the discourse when applied to tech sold as "AI". New from me & @nannainie.bsky.social on @techpolicypress.bsky.social -- how to spot & revise away from anthropomorphizing language applied to "AI"

I've been debating for the past week whether to go back and finish up the last few days of Advent of Code 2025. But, I haven't really been feeling it, and now December and (2025) is done. So in the spirit of a #chill #AdventOfCode, I think I'm done for now. See ya in a year, AoC!

Whelp, once again for #AdventOfCode my solution for part 2 works for the test case but is far too inefficient and crashes the kernel.

Day 9 part 1 was ridiculously easy, because you could cheat with math, so I guess it makes sense part 2 is difficult. Ah well.

Whelp, #AdventOfCode is definitely getting harder each day. For Day 8, I was only able to solve part 1 for the test case - my answer was wrong for my actual input though. I'm about ready to tear out my hair so I'm stopping for now.

Day 7 #AdventOfCode prompt is giving me the giggles:

Naturally the first thing you do upon seeing a teleportation experiment is step into the teleporter

Error code 0H-N0

Christmas-tree shaped tachyon manifolds

What's coming next in part 2? Maybe a sonic screwdriver can help...

Woooo I'm back in the 2-star club! Part 2 was kinda a pain in the butt to figure out how to parse the input correctly, but I'm quite happy with my solution

I thought day 5 was seeming a bit too easy... my part 2 answer was wrong and I'm not immediately sure what to do to fix it. So, I'm going to bed, maybe I'll figure it out another day.

I learned in past years that if your input needs to be a grid, using numpy will make your life much easier. I know this is possible to solve with just base python, but why not refresh myself on some numpy basics and also save myself the headache?
