Melt the ICE Hat pattern by YarnCultMN
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal...

Just dropped a new post! Fun with affirmations.dev API creating demotivational posters à la Despair.inc 😂

Nothing says nostalgia like those 2000s office Successories we all survived. Built with TanStack, Unsplash & Cloudinary ✨

I wrote the speech I *wish* Chuck Schumer would give tonight - as an actual opposition leader. Here it is:

"My fellow Americans: At this hour, an unrestrained force of militarized and violent federal officers is carrying out a project of ethnic cleansing in the streets of American cities."

Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

Rough time to deeply care where your country is heading while also having, you know, a life that also requires attention and headspace

I wonder how many people in tech hold elected offices in their towns or have run for elected office?

“It would cost billions to update infrastructure“ - good news, we really suck at that. Infernal delays on the Amtrak just yesterday. What a cursed timeline. Ça commence bien cette année…
President Trump plans to send U.S. energy giants to Venezuela to rekindle stalled oil production, stabilize the country and cement American energy dominance.

But there are obstacles, industry analysts warn.
The big obstacles to Trump’s plan for a Venezuelan oil windfall
It would cost billions to update infrastructure. Will the country be stable long enough for the bet to pay off?

Taking a page right out of Putin's playbook. The only thing I can think of that will stop this dangerous idiot is telling him he'll not get a peace prize this way. Also so much for MAGA non-intervention.
The US has openly declared that it can steal other countries and run them itself and the world should unite against this aggression.

Channel Candide and cultivate your garden in the web. A delightful read!
you’re right! it feels mostly awful to Go Online™, these days. the internet in a sad state, for reason after reason after reason. but there is a way to fix it; to trade the voidful howling for a quiet & joyful song.

here’s how to win the war for the soul of the internet, and build the Web We Want.

<begrudging> AI can be really useful (although we don't really need AI for this task) to OCR and then translate and convert to metric measurements an old family recipe for Christmas cookies for cooks in France :)

Twitter/X has turned into such a toxic waste dump, I’m seriously considering just deleting my entire account there, you can’t say anything without getting a pile-on. Anyone keeping their account but just monitoring it without engaging, or full deletion, what’s our strategy here?

Today I learned that mixing antique lighting with modern lighting takes a very sure hand and is very easy to get wrong. And I got it wrong and am going to double down on acquiring more antiques. Most modern artifacts are really badly made, out of proportion for old rooms, and honestly pretty ugly.

This story about Brown and the apparent connection to MIT's shooting makes me sick to my stomach. I'm glad they seem to have caught the perp but what a horrible waste of brilliant minds, both student and faculty. How incredibly sad.

@nytimes.com time to start reporting on the other stories, we have a really bad situation at Brown and now MIT. This feels really scary
