Always curious
Yes. But clearly not anymore.
Remember back in the day when Congress used to be in charge of appropriations?

No longer is the DOJ independent. It is there to serve and protect Trump.

A great contrast is right.
Other counties taking action in light of evidence being disclosed in the Epstein files.
The US DOJ?
Doing everything it can to protect Trump.
Rep. Stephen Lynch: "It offers a great contrast. Look what the British government is doing in light of the evidence, and look what the US government is doing. Nothing. Our chief law enforcement officer Pam Bondi is defending and obstructing the investigation."

This is one very significant way to put hurdles up to ICE.
Sue them.
FBI has denied MN investigators access to evidence. So:
"Anger over the killings of Renee Good & Alex Pretti has catalyzed state lawmakers to take matters into their own hands. New bill would allow citizens to sue ICE agents if their constitutional rights are violated."

Sounds like Trump administration is starting to realize the anti-DEI campaign is losing. Just in time for the midterms.
But what happens then?
BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

This is the very positive result of backlash against Trump's continuing censorship campaign

In what has become a pattern on decision making in the Trump administration..

Trump is putting some media on course with what goes on in Russia. CBS in this case.
Content has to be approved or rejected by the front office/WH.
Colbert: “Let’s just call this what it is: Trump’s administration wants to silence anyone who says anything bad about Trump on TV because all Trump does is watch TV. He’s like a toddler with too much screen time. He gets cranky and then drops a load in his diaper.”

Seems to me to drown out the 'free speech' of everyone else
"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." –Justice Louis Brandeis

Words spoken many years ago that are just as relevant today.

We must continue the fight to get big money out of politics.

If Baltimore County can do it, thousands of other local jurisdictions can too. Local governments rule in permitting and zoning.

This is good.
But to have to go to court to restore exhibits that explain slavery because a US president has no respect for the truth of our history is appalling..
A win! A federal judge has instructed the Interior Department to restore signage and video exhibits at George Washington’s former Philadelphia residence that explain his ownership of enslaved people.

Former EPA regulator:
"The U.S. no longer has emission standards of any meaning...Nothing. Zero. Not many countries have zero."
Our only hope in this country to overcome Trump's wrecking is to encourage states to maintain clean air standards and push manufacturers to continue to build clean cars
With the EPA killing the “endangerment finding,” the U.S. will have no laws on the books that enforce how efficient passenger vehicles should be. If the decision holds, it could increase U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the main driver of global climate change, by 10% over the next 30 years.
With Latest Rollback, the U.S. Essentially Has No Clean-Car Rules
The E.P.A.’s killing of the “endangerment finding” caps a year of deregulation that is likely to make cars thirstier for gas and less competitive globally, experts say.

And nearly 150 years later, Trump and the GOP want to pass a law to make it harder for women to vote
Today is February 15. On this day in 1879, President Rutherford Hayes signed a new law that would admit women as members of the Supreme Court bar & allow them to submit/argue cases. Thank suffragette Belva Lockwood for her efforts in this uphill battle.
