However you view the government shutdown, POTUS has the power to alleviate suffering of families who cannot afford to eat, and he chose not to. He chose cruelty. And the partial funding of SNAP that is there is only because a court ordered it.
SNAP update: USDA tells grocery stores not to give discounts to customers

Sure, it takes a process of billions of years that spans the cosmos for the nuclear fusion process inside stars to create the preponderance of elements we have today. But what if we light some on fire and blow them up? That'd be cool!

So folks in the US worry about what chips made in China might secretly do since the Chinese government has sway over the chip makers. Now, a US government that is leaning heavily fascist is taking a stake in Intel. Do you trust it not to put spyware in to monitor, say, your speech? I know I don’t.

My apologies to the rest of North America (and everywhere else too). It’s small comfort that a lot of us are strongly opposed to what is happening given that as a nation we voted for this imbecile. But a lot of us didn’t. 🇨🇦 🇺🇦

This is a time when large employers need to push on the government. They don’t even have to do it in moral/ethical/humanitarian grounds. It is in their own self interest to not have all their employees out sick throughout next winter.

The UN needs to rally the nations of the world to speak up loudly about how awful trump’s forced displacement plan is. We should be treated as pariahs on the world stage as long as he keeps this up.
