Pretty rough Olympics for Team Canada so far with some brutal luck - but ultimately you make your own luck in sports.

A pair of golds might salvage things… barely. 😮‍💨

Okay, now I hate it.
Short track speed skating is so bonkers. Margin for error is razor thin and I feel like every other race has some sort of dramatic crash out??

(I love it.)

Québec really carrying Canada at these Olympics. Gonna need the other provinces to step up but huge s/o to the francophone gene pool and provincial funding. ⚜️

Absolutely unreal skate by Gilles & Poirier for Canada. Love waking up for Ice Dance once every four years to watch a moment of magic like this.

Obsessed with this 🤌
What in the Italy is happening?

The Italians have taken a 1-0 lead in Sweden in men’s hockey four minutes into the game.

Obviously a lot of hockey left. But here we go.

Another 2026 title win for Bianca Andreescu in Florida, this time a W75 title to go with the W35 a few weeks ago.

Slowly rebuilding her ranking and her confidence against a slightly higher caliber field. Expect to see her back at the tour level sooner rather than later.

Unreal match and huge resolve from Rybakina to come back and win that in the third set.

Women’s tournament this year needed a quality final — and we got it. And great to see a player who never really got to reap the rewards of her first Grand Slam title earn her second.

👏👏

First time waking up for the AO women’s singles final since this queen won 8 years ago.

Let’s gooooooooo.

Truly the worst news.
Catherine O’Hara, a Comedy Great from ‘SCTV’ to ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ Dead at 71

The celebrated actress was also known for her appearances in the Home Alone movies and many collaborations with Christopher Guest.

Another puzzling flameout from Swiatek after a hard fought first set.

Struggling to hold on mentally to mini-setbacks in matches against her biggest rivals and the changes she’s made to her game under Wim Fisette seem to have set her two steps backward against big hitters.

Unwilling to adjust.

Gotta respect Bianca Andreescu for dropping down to the ITF level to gain some wins, some confidence and hit the hard reset button on her career.

Kicks off her 2026 with a title.
Canadian Bianca Andreescu wins the title at the ITF W35 in #Bradenton with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Vivian Wolff. #CdnTennis

Here's my #Tennis Starter Pack which has got pretty much everyone I've come across on it (which means you'll be on it).

@fortydeucetwits.bsky.social has a couple of Starter Packs on her Home Page that she put together a couple of years ago.

Been on Bluesky for well over a year now but it’ll be my first Australian Open completely X-free.

Got a good follower/following of Tennis Twitter (and of course also Sens Twitter) migrants - but I’m sure I’m missing a few and want to keep building.

Any must-follow accounts new (or old) to Bluesky?

Not too much on upset watch for Day 1 of the #AusOpen, but a few to keep an eye on:

🎾 Zverev v Diallo - Expect Zverev to get through this one but Diallo might get a set
🎾 Paolini v Sasnovich - Sasnovich plays well in Aus
🎾 Bublik v Brooksby - Tempting upset pick but Bublik just been too good lately

2026 TennisSky reminder to not assess a match after the first 3 games.

Andreeva masterclass, Mboko ran out of gas. Regardless — going to be a big year for both.
Only a game in but this M. Andreeva vs. Mboko Adelaide final is 🔥

Hopefully the first of many matchups for these two teenagers at the highest level. Opposing styles but ice cold killers and both have had wild success at 18 and 19 years of age, respectively.

Nice three-set effort from Karolina Muchova over Elena Rybakina, who loses in Brisbane for the first time.

Neither played their best at the same time but Muchova locks down at just the right time to earn somewhat of a statement win to kick off her 2026.

Top 8 seeds in at the Aussie Open - beware.
