I knew the folks at @armscontrolnow.bsky.social would reply to Trump's comments on nuclear testing. See below.
imho what Trump said could mean many things and may not mean what most people think, which would be nuclear explosions (aka mushroom clouds)

Another dangerous decision - hopefully one to be walked back. The US need not open the pandora box of nuclear testing... still unclear exactly what Trump is proposing imho

Appreciated opportunity to provide this assessment in this reporting “Around the world we are trying to make friends, But when they have seen our weapons being misused it undermines that ability, and makes us seem hypocritical, dangerous.” @cipolicy.bsky.social

No. I'm not a fan of a Department of "War"
This charade of asking the people behind him if they agree is also repugnant... if they don't agree, Trump will just replace them.
Trump suggests he's changing the name the US Department of Defence to the US Department of War:

"It just sounds better... Defence? I don't want to be defence only... We want offence too.

As Department of War, we won everything. And I think we're going to have to go back to that."

As with nearly everything Trump does and I says, I find this repugnant. No, we don't need a department of "war"
As I wrote in @foreignpolicy.com in January, the "President of Peace" moniker doesn't quite fit.
