Don't need no fascist groove thang, likes books and movies and cats and records and weird words and curious facts and also cats and did I mention cats?
Damn. Every writer at The Onion is queueing up near an open 20th-story window of their office.
A glimpse of what the right is messaging to its voters. Hard to believe but yes.

Trump et al. attempting to turn a profit by buying up devasted land in Gaza...reminds me of something. An opera maybe. By Rossini?

You know how, sometimes, a show gets cancelled on one network only to be renewed on another?

The Scrabble continues! Every week (for background), Rose and I play Scrabble. I post a photo, and the board, and some comments on the game. (We play "nice rules" allowing in-game lookup.)

Thanks to those who managed to find me for birthday wishes. Rose and I went out to Ward's House of Prime (sorry: not a math joint) where we had way too much delicious food.

No one should be surprised, of course...
The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

Thompson's closing lines...BOOM:

"You wouldn't come to this committee to say something you can't prove, I know. I know you wouldn't do that. But you did."
GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

This is where we are: the court essentially says that because Gov. Abbott consistently argued that the reason for redistricting related to race (rather than partisan advantage), because race-based redistricting is illegal, the plan is preliminarily enjoined.
The federal court that struck down Texas' redistricting plan says the letter from a Trump DOJ appointee that kicked off the whole thing is "challenging to unpack the DOJ Letter because it contains so many factual, legal, and typographical errors. "

Rebecca Solnit argues cogently on why we need to accept right-wing apostates rather than continue to dump on them. I'll admit...it's challenging, and schadenfreude is real...but she's right.

The ten most populous cities in the US contain about 26 million people. The average annual income in the US is about $38,000.

Musk's new pay package is worth more than what everyone in the top 10 cities in the US earns in an entire year (assuming averages).

Impossible to justify in any terms.

Trump was gifted a crown belonging to a king who claimed power from heaven. Silla’s kings rose by centralizing absolute power… and eventually collapsed under the corruption and rebellion. This was expert-level trolling by S. Korea, but Trump is too absorbed in himself to notice he’s the punchline.
“We present this gold crown to you on this joyous occasion”

Trump: Thank you very much

Can we not refer to "Congress" any more, as in "Congress refuses to do this" or "Congress does that..."?

Because the body of people doing and not doing things is not "Congress," but the Republicans that control the majority of both houses. Saying "Congress" maligns the minority who'd do otherwise.

So many items on the checklist of Things To Do When the Fascists Are Out of Office...

Add: swearing in duly elected officials should be strictly ceremonial and able to be done by, I dunno, any public official, or some non-partisan ceremonial office created solely for this task.
