GOOD!

MIT officially rejects the compact/loyalty oath for higher ed. That’s 1 of 9. I hope we see many more announcements today.
MIT rejects "compact" proposed by the Trump administration.
MIT prez wrote: it "would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution" and "is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."

NSF GRFP is out, but they’ve unexpectedly made 2nd year students ineligible.
It does seem like they have barred 2nd year graduate students from applying. This is devastating, I've been preparing my applications materials for MONTHS and now they all have to get binned...

This is the best summary I can personally come up with from ACIP’s meeting on COVID19 vaccines:

1. I think the situation is the same as it was *before* the meeting.

2. They voted that prescriptions are not required, but if you live somewhere that currently requires them, they still may be.

Text of New York's COVID vaccine executive order is out.

- It allows physicians and nurses to prescribe vaccines to anyone 3 & over
- It expands pharmacists’ authority to administer vaccines to children under 18
- For the first time, pharmacists can prescribe vaccines off-label to anyone 3 & over

In response to the dismantling of the CDC, California, Oregon, and Washington have launched the West Coast Health Alliance, which will make their own science-based vaccine guidelines, and make sure vaccines are accessible to everyone.

You can very easily make a case for yourself as being someone who qualifies for Covid vax on this list.

Physical inactivity, former/current smoker, depression, ETC - these are extremely broad and wide ranging categories.

*You can also just lie* and say you’re depressed. Do what you need to do!!!
FDA is authorizing anybody with a risk factor from this list to receive the vaccines, as well as anybody 65+.

Free article from @nytimes.com by the amazing @apoorvanyt.bsky.social. Not only were the ACIP experts fired, but Kennedy "reassigned" the scientists who oversaw and vetted the ACIP members.
The intent is clear - as is the danger.
