Living large and happy in the Bay of Plenty NZ - found myself to be more left wing as I get older - firm believer in the need for action on climate change, poverty, and equity for women, LGBTIQA+ and Māori all those things empower the world to be better.

I am just going to leave this here - sums everything up nicely - Luxon is no leader - he is a shinny head that managed to fail upwards.

Opinion: How breathtakingly bad was your Marmite sandwich line, Luxon?
The worst part about this response wasn’t just that it was a complete shirking of responsibility. It was the fact he didn’t seem to get why people cared so much.

Love days like today - a walk through the bush with the family lunch at a seaside cafe and then a dip in the nice warm ocean.

The best part I cannot remember that last time I heard the orange man’s voice.

I have a lot of feelings about what David Seymour said in his "State of the Nation" speech today but they all boil down to one simple statement.

David Seymour can go and F*CK himself with a canoe - sideways.

Any day in the next 4 years when I don't hear his voice is a gift and I will cherish it!

Would the new Minister for the South Island have anything to do with the ferry debacle?

I mean post Kaikoura and Christchurch earthquakes which hit large parts of the island just got a Minister for recovery of those areas - so what’s changed other their ham fisted handling of the ferry issue?
January 19, 2025 at 2:38 AM
What an absolute DB bag - it hasn't crossed his enfeebled brain that we can have both? Regulations to protect people from earthquakes AND funding for cancer drugs that saves lives.
The exact wording I paraphrased:

Yes CEO who don’t meet KPIs but also Public organisations that don’t met the KPIs set out by Ministers

That could be judges, doctors university professors too

Maybe I think too much

And yet the Government is still trying to make public transport options harder and harder and therefore reinforcing their own stupid arguments.
New Zealand seems to have the most expensive per-km transport project costs in the OECD. Rather than seeking to identify and understand the causes, our politicians use this as a wedge to wind up voters and justify political interference in projects—which drives costs even higher.
And with help from @egoldwyn.bsky.social Transit Costs Project and the Eno Center, we’ve put Canadian transit costs in the global context.

Canada is the 9th most expensive country in average per-km costs - and alongside the rest of the anglosphere - has one of the widest distributions.
