#birds I'm missed national bird day yesterday, with the theme of birds in flight. So here are some eastern bluebirds, with on getting ready to land.

#birds Not that it really matters, compared to the misery we have in the US, but I feel like the world is very disappointed in Americans right now. Kind of how this mockingbird looks.

#birds Feeling the blues, but this eastern bluebird pair counter that with good blues.

#blueskyartshow #NewYear We don't do this every new year, but last year the weather was warm, so we went to visit the lights at our local botanical gardens (Lewis Ginter). We had a thunderstorm roll by us to the north, so we had a bit of a sky light show too! It's a beautiful way to end the year.

#birds There are many things I miss from the past, like when the free-range chickens from next door would invade our yard to scrounge for bird seed. They were a jolly group! It's a nice memory, but I don't want to live in the past. I want to make a great future in which to live.

#birds It's a new year, time to be bright and determined. Make this year a good one through your own actions, rise above all the thorny tangles that seek to keep you down. This male cardinal is showing the way.

#birds It's New Year's Eve and I feel quite a bit like this worn and battered male cardinal, taking a drink at the local bar. We survived it. But let's not make this kind of a year a habit.

#birds Close to the end of the year, and it's cold outside. So here's a Hermit Thrush, because I'd like to be a hermit myself right now!

#blueskyartshow #holiday A few years back we had a big snow after we'd decorated for Christmas. Our poor azalea bushes were covered with heavy snow, but I loved how the Christmas lights shined through the snow to make them even more magical.

I took this photo of our eastern bluebirds' nest last spring, as captured by our embedded camera. Interestingly, the screen on the tablet we use to monitor the nest reflected our home too.
