We are heartbroken to hear that our partner and friend, Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed in a targeted shooting.

We condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms and are keeping State Rep. Hortman’s family in our hearts during this tragic time.
I’m devastated to learn that my friend, Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, were killed in last night’s shooting.

Massachusetts has the lowest gun death rate in the country, and some of the strongest gun safety laws. That’s no coincidence.

We applaud the court’s decision to hold non-residents to these lifesaving laws when they are in the commonwealth.
SJC says Mass. can impose gun laws on out-of-state residents who carry firearms without permits - The Boston Globe
The decision came after the Supreme Judicial Court heard a pair of cases involving New Hampshire gun owners who were charged for unlawfully possessing firearms in Massachusetts without proper permits.

The president’s priority should be to build on the lifesaving progress made over the last four years, not boost profits for gun company CEOs.

Any effort to repeal lifesaving measures will harm public safety and put our children at risk. That’s not what Americans voted for.
Donald Trump waited until Friday night to issue an Executive Order rolling back lifesaving gun measures because he knows it will be incredibly unpopular.

Call your Senators & Representatives and have them tell AG Pam Bondi not to put our kids' lives at risk:📱(202) 224-3121

Gun violence is the NUMBER ONE cause of death for children and teens in the US.

Not car crashes. Not cancer. It's guns.

Schools should be sites of learning for our kids, not centers of carnage.

Without a serial number and with no background check needed to purchase, it’s no wonder untraceable ghost guns are increasingly used in crimes.

It's simple: Ghost guns threaten public safety and must be subject to background checks like the guns they are.

Law enforcement have detained a person of interest in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

He had a ghost gun when apprehended, which is untraceable, easy to obtain without a background check, and ideal for those who seek to harm.

New Gallup polling shows the majority of Americans continue to support stronger gun laws and an assault weapons ban.

No matter what political party they belong to, lawmakers have a duty to listen to the American people and act.
Majorities Still Back Stricter Gun Laws, Assault Weapons Ban
While 56% of Americans favor stricter gun laws in general and 52% back an assault weapons ban, a near-record-low 20% support banning handguns.

In 2017, a gunman used bump stocks to turn semi-automatic rifles into machine guns and kill 60 people, injuring over 500 more, at a music festival in Las Vegas.

Today, our Litigation Director called on Congress to ban bump stocks at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
