Almost everyone over the age of 40 (and many folks younger) has had some health issue that insurance companies would classify as a preexisting condition. The ACA doesn’t allow companies to deny insurance or charge more for these. This includes pregnancy, diabetes and sometimes simply being a woman.
Pregnancy is considered a pre-existing medical condition if you're already pregnant when you sign up for health insurance.
However, under the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies can't deny coverage or charge more for pre-existing conditions, including pregnancy.
