It’s a blast to rewatch #StrangerThings once again - I think this is my 3rd or 4th time through. I remember being hesitant the 1st time through - but S1E3’s end with Hopper’s “Don’t be the kid” and Gabriel’s haunting cover of Bowie’s “Heroes” is definitely what hooked me in completely.

I’m old enough to have grown up when the Pens REALLY sucked - like pre-Lemieux SUCKED. That first run was such a wonderful part of this hockey lover’s life, and make no mistake about this: Mike Lange was a monstrous part of that fun.

I rewatch Mississippi Burning at least once a year. It’s my favorite from both Hackman and Dafoe, and, unfortunately, it’s always been timely. Today seemed like a good day for it once again.

Finishing the Luther doc, and while he’s not the focus by any means, I do believe it deserves mentioning: Richard Marx is just a phenomenal human being.

In what should be a surprise to everyone on this planet, it took me 4 days to finish a 10 pack of thumbprint cookies. I’m sure having the gallbladder removed and subsequent recovery helped, but I don’t look at this as performance enhancing in this historic event. Please send my flowers, stat.

Parents and soon to be parents, I BEG of you to please read to your children. Work to foster a love of the written word that is created by an actual human rather than some stale piece of software. There are an awful lot of things that might be different if we actually read more.

Hit a neighborhood spot for dinner and a drink (or several - it’s been a long week and a rough day). Was planning to eat and leave, but guy playing here tonight just opened with You Don’t Mess Around With Jim - might be closing this joint.

Thursday night marks the beginning of my 9th year of teaching an Instruction and Learning class as an Adjunct Professor in the Education Department at UPG. Those of us who’ve been around for a while would know it as a Methods course.

Have a student who has really gotten into 80s alternative music - it’s been interesting to see his perspective as he’s found it now, compared to me finding it then.

My brother & I have been having a wonderful conversation about the beauty of John Hughes’ Planes, Trains, and Automobiles this morning, and really Hughes in general. As Nick said, “When do we start talking about John Hughes as one of the best American Writers like Twain?” 🧵

So after seeing all the talk about TedDanson in #AManOnTheInside I decided to check it out. I’ve got to tell you: it’s as fun as people are saying. So many wonderful lines in every ep. Funny, yet poignant at the same time.

Perhaps controversial, I don’t know - I’d much rather you raise your price and hide it in there than tell me you’re charging me the extra 4% so you can accept credit and debit cards.

I’ve really been missing Karl Wallinger lately - I’m not sure he ever truly received his due praise. Private Revolution is an absolute masterpiece in my book. No skips. All Come True…
