This morning, Oregon's HB 2138 moved through Ways & Means with bipartisan support, headed for the floor of both houses. It'd remove many remaining barriers to starter homes across the state.

I recently wrote with @jchristmpls.bsky.social about how Minneapolis had more households than ever before.

In a new blog post, I expand on this — showing that many cities reached peak households in 2020 despite experiencing past population decline.

Since it’s over, here’s the credentials committee meeting! This was the third time we met. Willy Sorensen (kid that Frey fist bumped after speech/W❤️MPLS employee) did not share the list ahead of time and my co-chair Bobby Grandquist is pretending he didn’t know. Here’s his argument in his words:

This is unhinged. Four Minnesotans can stop Trump’s tariff taxes and this trade war: Pete Stauber, Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, and Michelle Fischbach.

If every Republican member of Congress stood up for Minnesotans, it would END the Trump tariff taxes.

Four Minnesotans can end this!

Why has no US state followed Connecticut's lead in replacing counties with Councils of Governments that match the modern urban geography?

I know you are deeply patriotic about YOUR county, but there are many crazy county lines in the US ...

Since 2000, Chicago's population is -140k while households are +19k. Here's what that looks like at the Community Area level.

To me the three stories here are:

- The Downtown population boom

- The household neutral, population negative-to-neutral middle

- The Lake View/Logan Square dichotomy
