LLMs are increasingly used for clinical support & #meded but how well do they actually reason?

A study in NEJM AI from @adamrodmanmd.bsky.social et al rigorously evaluates LLM performance on clinical reasoning tasks, moving beyond superficial accuracy to see HOW answers are generated

Talking about death and dying remains difficult - even for clinicians. Death Cafés are informal, participant-led gatherings where people discuss death openly over tea & conversation, aiming to normalize the topic and deepen understanding. 🌱 #MedEd #EndOfLife #death @countwaylibrary.bsky.social

Many educators in #meded try to eliminate learner struggle in the clinical learning environment. *ANOTHER* 2025 paper in Medical Teacher argues the opposite: some struggle is not only inevitable, but essential - if it is productive & supported.

“Productive struggle” is often praised in education, but rarely unpacked. A 2025 article in Medical Teacher argues that struggle only promotes learning when psychological safety is intentionally established. Otherwise struggle risks becoming disengagement.

Generative AI is often framed as a *shortcut* 🫣 for answers. A recent study in the Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education flips this perspective - when intentionally designed, AI 🤖can *support* metacognition & self-directed learning, not undermine them. A short thread 🧵

Intimidated by BEING a mentor? You’re not alone. Mentorship skills aren't taught during #medschool or residency, & it seems like it's expected you'll just "know what to do" as an early career MD / healthcare professional faculty - which is wrong. A about brief 🧵 #mentorship 👇

Fascinating to see that nih.gov was one of the top 10 sites (#8) of traffic driven by #AI #chatbot prompts. This demonstrates how much traffic sites get from ChatGPT, Perplexity, & other AI platforms, as opposed to search engines.
