For reasons that have become obscure to our family, we don't have a microwave, and when I neecd to heat up the morning's coffee, I have to put in a pan and then ladle it back into my cup, which makes me realize that coffee is I suppopse a kind of soup.

I realize this is probably a "me" problem, but I don't enjoy people just shooting the breeze on hours-long podcasts. Even people who are talented breeze shooters. The cratered media landscape has more or less reinvented drive-time radio, fuzzed out background noise.

To what extent do cats know that we clean the litter box for them? I mean, they certainly know when it's been cleaned, but I wonder if they grasp the causation.

The age that I am, I have certain inevitable cultural blindspots, one being that I have no idea who Pete Davidson is, except that he's some guy with tattoos. If pressed, I'd say he's the dude from that britpop band who dated Kate Moss.

With an incredibly heavy heart the Hurley family and his close friends are sad to announce that Michael Hurley passed away on April 1st. Despite not feeling well Michael had just completed a brief tour that culminated in two appearances at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN. Very sad times.
