What a fantastic spot, Em. Reminds me of the time in lockdown when I first met the St Mark's fly. Anyway, your find inspired me to follow up and there's more on mining bees here - as you'd guess, the hole is all about setting the grubs up: www.gardenersworld.com/wildlife/min...

The flowers seem to vary quite a lot but I guess they change from first bloom right through to the fluffy white seed head. Does this sound about right?

Every major UK newspaper - left, right, broadsheet, tabloid - is running a front page campaign against copyright carveouts for AI training.
I can't remember the last time any political cause had such broad support, let alone one so anti-big tech and so economically consequential.
