Currently reading a simple philosophy book (and understanding maybe every 10th sentence, as usual) and I gleaned this from the first few pages- obvious? Yes. Yet it resonates with me.

Intention without action gets the same result as no intention at all.

I was obsessed with platypuses as a child after reading an encyclopedia article about them (yes, I’m that old). First story I ever pounded out on mom’s Royal typewriter was about them. #writingcommunity.

JWST identified nine "platypus" galaxies that defy standard cosmic categories. These objects from the infant universe appear as tiny points of light, yet they lack the signature physical traits of stars or quasars. 🔭🧪🛰️

2026 Book 2: I finally finished this book. A mixed bag for sure, but its moments of sheer brilliance outweigh any complaints. I’ve not read enough challenging fiction lately (or enough frivolous non-fic?). I love my pulp, but I need to maintain a balance.

#WritersCoffeeClub 11/1: Name a poet who has influenced you

I read a lot of poetry in my formative years so I guess it’s baked in somewhere. Those influential in my writing?

1- Brautigan
2. Cummings
3. Dickey
4. Rimbaud

Note to self: Go back to reading poetry!

#WritersCoffeeClub 11/1: Name a poet who has influenced you.
I can’t say any of my principal literary influences have been poets/poetry, but the one who comes closest is Dylan Thomas. “As I was young and easy under the apple-boughs…”
And to connect…

I hate to be extreme, but anyone using the term ‘normie’ gets an instant block.
Seriously my friends on the left, insulting/condescending to centrists is no way to return to power. Do you want to feel superior or do you want to govern?

First read of 2026- Origins of the Sexual Impulse by Colin Wilson. This is part of his Outsider Cycle. I’ve never seen a physical copy I could afford, so I broke down read it digital. Not the strongest in the cycle, but helps cement his ideas on intentionality and phenomenology.

LLM, Machine Learning, and anything Artificial claiming to be Intelligent. I won’t use, it won’t read articles or posts about it, I will make every attempt to avoid it in my personal life.

Sticking with the stories about Atlantis, the Military/Sorcery Complex should scare you.
#JanuaryWorldbuilders, good morning! In the same vein as yesterday's question, what's something terrifying or scary in your world? Do you have any haunted places? Desolate, lonely places? Any site where something dreadful happened?
January 4, 2026 at 5:23 AM
I’m going to have to go with the dragons of Atlantis on this one. There may not be many and they might be shy, but they sure are wise and majestic.
#JanuaryWorldbuilders For me, one of the most enjoyable things about worldbuilding is coming up with grand ideas: scenery, a building, a tree, a planet, anything you consider big, beautiful, imposing, grand, majestic... pick your synonym. Tell me about it

Jay, recently tired, slow traveling for 3 months now, working on short stories that have been put off for years. A series set in preindustrial world where magic is outlawed and user hunted, and a series set in Atlantis throughout its history. And other stuff.

Welcome to a new year of worldbuilding! Let's kick off this year with Day 1 of #JanuaryWorldbuilders in which I ask you: tell me about yourself and the world(s) you're building. Just a general overviews. We'll get into the weeds throughout the year

For my series of fantasy stories about The Stranger, the reader doesn’t know who the MC really is, nor does almost everyone else in the stories (with important exceptions). Of course, the MC has no idea who he is either.
#JanuaryWorldbuilders, good day! In worldbuilding, sometimes we get deep into figuring out how things work because we want to explain it to the reader. Today, I ask you for the opposite: what is something that you intend to leave mysterious? What doesn't get explained?
